Microsoft Word contains hundreds of different features so that you can include whatever information you need in your document:.

The name of the program and the currently open file are displayed here. As the name implies, the Quick Access toolbar gives you quick access to frequently used commands. If you click the different tabs, you will see the commands change. Notice that some of the commands might be grayed out. This is because those commands are only usable in certain situations. Below this, you will see commands to sign into your Microsoft account and share the current document. If the Word document spans more than one screen, you can use this scroll bar to move through its pages. You may also see a horizontal scroll bar depending on your view. This bar is used to display information about the document.

In the sample image, you will see a page and word count on the left-hand side. You may also see spell checking and macro commands here depending on your current task. On the right-hand side you will see commands to change views and zoom into or out of the document.

To further assist you with your concern, starting your Office apps in safe mode will help you identify what is causing the applications not to work as you expected. To do this, please refer to this link. When I opened Word in safe mode the same problems occured, i e the screen goes black for about a second and then goes back to normal, sometimes Word also crashes.

This happened to me when working on a drawing canvas in which some of the text boxes had shadows assigned. Presumably Word is frequently taking a few seconds to render and cache the drop shadows and it goes black while doing so - very annoying.

The more boxes with shadows, the longer it took. I removed all the shadows and the problem is gone. Too bad because I like the look of the shadows! None of my illustration pograms have this problem, but in this case I want the convenience of Word. Oh well Choose where you want to search below Search Search the Community.
